- Seeking small business Authorized Cummins Diesel Engine repair service provider for work in northern California area. Please contact me, Debra Velmere, Contracting Officer, perferably by email at debbie.velmere@dot.gov. Statement of Work Diesel Engine Rebuilding, Cummins Model NT-855 "Big Cam" The intent of this statement of work is to rebuild two (2) Cummins Model NT-855 "Big Cam" diesel engines that serve as main propulsion engines for Suisun Bay Reserve Fleet's PG-type service craft. The contractor shall pick up both engines for rebuilding and return when all work specified herein is complete. Both engines have been removed from the craft and have been disconnected from their transmissions. The contractor is not responsible for removing or installing the engines in the service craft. 1. Cummins Model NT-855, serial number 11339163 Rebuild engine as necessary. This engine suffered an overheating and loss of lubricating oil condition that has most likely resulted in piston and/or bearing seizure. Cause was a failed rear oil seal after ten (10) hours of operation since last overhaul and subsequent storage of approximately 4 years. Inspect, replace and/or reuse engine components as required to return engine to the manufacturer's operating specifications or tolerances. Replace all hoses and filters, replace lube oil and coolant, filling to proper operating levels. After final assembly, recoat engine. Dyno-test the engine after rebuilding, bringing the engine to proper operating temperature and RPM. Provide full dyno report. 2. Cummins Model NT-855, serial number 11503223 Rebuild engine as necessary. This engine is in operating condition with low oil pressure, after approximately 500 hours of operation since last overhaul. Inspect, replace and/or reuse engine components as required to return engine to the manufacturer's operating specifications or tolerances. Replace all hoses and filters, replace lube oil and coolant, filling to proper operating levels. After final assembly, recoat engine. Dynamometer test the engine after rebuilding, bringing the engine to proper operating temperature and RPM. Provide a full dynamometer test report. Preserve engine for storage, and procedures for reactivation.
