Description
The American Embassy at Jakarta intends to standardize on General Electric (GE) products for the household appliances installed at the residents of both government-owned and short-term lease houses and apartments. This is in the best interests of the U.S. Government as there is a continuing need to either replace or repair broken or un-serviceable appliances. It is more cost effective to maintain one brand of appliances (GE) for the following reasons: A. Standardizing reduces the warehouse inventory of spare parts and replacements. This saves employee time, warehouse space, and reduces the total inventory of spare parts and replacements. B. Accounting for only one brand of spare parts reduces the administrative and inventory systems. The reconciliation is easier, faster, and more efficient. C. Spare parts and replacement units of one brand reduces inventory compared to maintaining stocks of two or more appliance brands. D. Maintenance technicians are proficient with the maintenance and repair of one brand of appliance. Thus, there is no need for extra personnel or contractors who are proficient in the maintenance and repair of other appliance brands. E. Standardization of appliances and repair parts reduces the total life-cycle cost of the appliance program. This announcement is for informational purposes only; it is not a request for proposals or quotations. Interested firms may email capability statements to the point of contact identified below. Capability statements are due by June 12, 2007. A determination by the Government to standardize this requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
