Description

The U.S. Geological Survey, Water Resources Discipline, Middleton Data Center, Middleton, WI, has a requirement for purchasing one(1) ea, BladeCenter Model HC1 blade server chassis. The server is required to help reduce the need for additional space, electrical power, and cooling capacity, as well as, to support computer capacity expansion at the Data Center. IBM is the designated distributor of server hardware for the Department of Interior BPA, effective October 2005. As a bureau of the Department of Interior, USGS is required to purchase server hardware via this BPA. Although this particular model of Blade Center is not included on the BPA, it is the only hardware compatible with existing IBM equipment already purchased. No other sources meet the requirements for integration into the existing IBM server framework at the Middleton Data Center. Also, the flexibility to network into USGS NAS and SSD devices via fiber, 10gb Ethernet, Ethernet, or Serial Attached SCSI technologies requires purchase of this particular make/model. THIS NOTICE IS FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. The anticipated award date is June 1, 2007, under the simplified acquisition threshold of $100,000.
