- STATEMENT OF OBJECTIVES Replace Medical Vacuum System at Claremore Indian Hospital, Claremore Oklahoma. I. GENERAL: A. This project will be performed primarily in the mechanical room of the hospital. B. The objective of this project is to remove the existing medical vacuum system (which is a Level 1 system since it serves an occupancy where interruption of the vacuum system would place patients in imminent danger of morbidity or mortality) and install a new medical vacuum system that is compliant with EC 7.50 of the 2007 JCAHO Standards while eliminating any medical vacuum system downtime. C. The scope of this project includes the contractor removing all mechanical, plumbing, and electrical components of the existing medical vacuum system and furnishing and installing all mechanical, plumbing, and electrical components of a new medical vacuum system. D. Distribute any applicable documents as follows: 1. 1 copy Charles Jones, Claremore Indian Hospital 2. 1 copy Ken McKenzie, OKC Area IHS Facilities Mgmt Branch E. Provide a pricing proposal using a software program such as, but not limited to, an Excel spreadsheet, R.S. Means CostWorks, or Timberline. A schedule of values shall be provided that reflects all items in the pricing proposal. A progress schedule shall be provided that shows the proposed timeframes for accomplishment of the work. F. All trades work must comply with all applicable regulations and standards. Compliance with all applicable chapters and aspects of the following codes shall be required: NFPA 99 (Standard for Health Care Facilities) ? either the 2002 edition or the 2005 edition, NFPA 70 National Electrical Code - 2005 edition, and NFPA 101 Life Safety Code - 2003 edition. The contractor shall review and comply with the policies of the hospital with respect to life safety and infection control measures that are applicable prior to beginning construction. II. SERVICES TO BE PERFORMED BY THE CONTRACTOR: The contractor shall provide all labor, disposal means, materials, tools and equipment, travel, and services necessary to remove a medical vacuum system and install a new medical vacuum system. Substantial completion of all work shall be achieved no later than 90 calendar days after the purchase order award for this project. A. The contractor shall visit the site to gather all relevant information required (electrical, mechanical, plumbing) to accomplish the work. B. The contractor shall refer to existing drawings of the mechanical room which will be made available and notes from the site visit to quantify and define tasks necessary to perform demolition work and new work. C The contractor shall verify the existing medical vacuum needs of the hospital and provide the government a proposed medical vacuum system that is properly sized. D. The contractor shall remove the existing medical vacuum pumps and components necessary for installation of new components. The new medical vacuum system exhaust shall comply with any applicable aspects of the Uniform Mechanical Code - 2000 edition. The new medical vacuum system shall be connected to the existing emergency power system. The new medical vacuum system shall not use water for a cooling source. The contractor shall make provisions for no medical vacuum system downtime while removing the existing and installing the new system. E. Access to the building, parking for contractors, and storage of materials shall be designated by Facility Management department. F. The contractor shall provide training on the operation and maintenance of all components of the new medical vacuum system. Request for proposals will be released May 30, 2007.
