- This is a sources sought announcement to seek potential vendors that could fulfill the below requirement. THIS SOURCES SOUGHT ANNOUNCEMENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS AND THE GOVERNMENT IS NOT COMMITTED TO AWARD A CONTRACT PURSUANT TO THIS ANNOUNCEMENT. NO SOLICITATION PACKAGE IS AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME AND REQUESTS FOR SOLICITATION PACKAGES WILL NOT RECEIVE A RESPONSE. The applicable NAICS code is 334516 and the Size Standard is 500 employees. This Sources Sought Synopsis is in support of market research being conducted by the NIH to identify capable potential businesses and their socio economic status for the procurement of an electron microscope system for National Institutes of Health as described below. Below is a Draft Statement of Work: Draft Statement of Work/Specifications The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Research Services (ORS) is conducting a market survey to determine the availability and capability of interested businesses to provide an electron microscope system and it's compatible components. Salient Characteristics/Performance Features for an electron microscope system: 1. The Contractor shall provide a Tecnai G2 20 TWIN electron microscope system or equivalent. 2. The System shall have the following: - LaB6 emitter (Denka/Mitsui) or equivalent. - Slow scan CCD imaging technique. - TEM AutoAdjust. - TEM AutoGun. - Inspect3D Additional License. - Tecnai T20 Installation Kit w/o plate camera. - Tomography Data Acquisition. - Cryo Box 120/200 kV. - Cylinder of SF6. - Locally purchased Support PC Workstation. - Low dose exposure technique & performance test. 3. The System shall be equipped with the most advanced operating system currently available in the market of TEM systems, i.e. the Windows 2000TM , or higher, operating system. 4. The Systems microscope components, like the electron gun, the optical elements, the vacuum system and the stage shall be completely digitally controlled. 5. The System's microscope column shall contain a gun with Wehnelt assembly for tungsten filaments (included) and LaB6 cathodes, two condenser lenses, the TWIN objective lens with a computerized 5-axes eucentric goniometer, diffraction lens, intermediate lens and two projector lenses and a housing for cameras, energy filters, and other accessories. 6. The microscope shall include a single-tilt specimen holder for accurate specimen positioning. 7. The column shall be supported by a projection chamber with two viewing windows, a large (160 mm diameter) viewing screen and a small screen for critical focusing with the aid of a high-quality 12x binocular viewer and a beam-stop mechanism. 8. The system shall include a microscope controller with a 20" LCD monitor. 9. The system shall include a single-tilt specimen holder. 10. The Contractor shall provide a one year service contract covering manufactured items covered under their standard annual service contract agreement. Electron Microscope System Components 1. The Contractor shall provide a high tilt tomography holder. 2. The Contractor shall provide a high tilt, cryotransfer tomography holder. 3. The Contractor shall provide a cooling control unit. 4. The Contractor shall provide a Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) flange. 5. The Contractor shall provide a Sutter interface kit. 6. The Contractor shall provide an air kit. 7. The Contractor shall provide a water kit. 8. The Contractor shall provide installation and any necessary training for the equipment. THIS SOURCES SOUGHT IS FOR INFORMATION AND PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY AND IS NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS A COMMITMENT BY THE GOVERNMENT. NO REIMBURSEMENT WILL BE MADE FOR ANY COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH PROVIDING INFORMATION IN RESPONSE TO THIS ANNOUNCEMENT AND ANY FOLLOW-UP INFORMATION REQUESTS. RESPONDENT WILL NOT BE NOTIFIED OF THE RESULTS OF THE REVIEWS. ALL INFORMATION SUBMITTED IN RESPONSE TO THIS ANNOUNCEMENT MUST BE RECEIVED ON OR BEFORE THE CLOSING DATE. THE CLOSING DATE FOR RESPONSES IS JUNE 15, 2007. PLEASE PROVIDE DESCRIPTIVE LITERATURE TO SHOW THAT THE PRODUCT OFFERED CONFORMS TO THE SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS/PERFORMANCE FEATURES OF THE ELECTRON MICROSCOPE SYSTEM FOR THIS MARKET SURVEY.
