- Description
- This announcement is a Request for Information (RFI). The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Patuxent River, MD is seeking potential sources for information and no cost product samples of commercially available, low profile ring clamps, similar or equal to Tinnerman NAS 397-14 and 397-16 clamps currently specified for the assemble of Navy anti-G suits, MIL-DTL-83406C and MIL-DTL-81905E. The Tinnerman type clamp is satisfactory but apparently is no longer being produced in the U.S. The clamps are used to secure successive fabric layers to the air hose of the anti-G suit. The first clamp secures a mesh fabric to a base rubber tube, and is subsequently covered with three turns of insulation tape. The next clamp secures a welded sleeve of coated nylon fabric over the first clamped construction, and is covered with three turns of insulation tape. The last clamp secures a sewn fabric tube over the first and second constructions, and is covered with three turns of insulative tape. The entire construction is then covered with a 1? wide rubber band. Requirements for ring clamps are: a) adjustable to fit 2.1cm. to 2.2 cm. and 2.4cm.to 2.6cm. approximate diameters; b) low profile (i.e., no protruding parts that can wear holes through fabric and tape); c) corrosion resistant; d) lockable; e) exert a compressive force similar or equal to Tinnerman NAS 397-14 and 397-16 clamps, and f) length-width dimensions no larger than Tinnerman 397-14 to 397-16 clamps. Product samples and specification sheets are requested from all interested sources at no cost to the Government. Proprietary data MUST be marked on a page-by-page basis, and will be kept confidential and protected in accordance with the Uniform Trades Secret Act. Interested sources shall state whether their sample is available commercially, made domestically (Berry Compliant), minimum purchase quantity, the approximate lead-time and unit cost per minimum quantity, approximate lead-time and unit cost per quantity of 1,000 pieces. Submittal Information: This IS NOT a Request For Proposal nor does the government intend to pay for any information/items submitted in response to this Request For Information (RFI). This synopsis does not commit the government to award any future contracts. Interested sources should send product samples and related information to NAWCAD by 30 June 2007. Interested sources shall state whether they are a small; small-disadvantaged (8A) or large business. The product samples and information should be sent to NAVAIR /NAWCAS, Attention: Ms. Wendy L. Todd, AIR 4.6.8.1, 48110 Shaw Road; Bldg. 2187, suite 2240, Patuxent River MD 20670-1906. Product samples will be returned only at the source?s request and expense unless the samples are destroyed during testing. Test data obtained on a submitted device will be shared with the source and if requested, a debrief of the governments findings will be provided. All technical questions must be submitted in writing and mailed to the above address or emailed to the POC provided below. POINT OF CONTACT: Ms. Wendy L.
