- Description
- The Forest Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture, is seeking sources to make improvements to its Forest Vegetation Simulator (FVS) computer modeling system. The purpose of FVS is to simulate forest stand characteristics over time, including various management activities. One component of the system is the creation of input files for the Stand Visualization System (SVS), which allows users to view computer-generated pictures of their forest stands through time. The purpose of this proposed contracted effort is to fix some known problems with the SVS input files so that the SVS input files, and their associated pictures, better match stand dynamics as they are tracked in the FVS. The contractor must be proficient with the FVS source code which is written in FORTRAN and is very complex. The Government has limited resources for this effort (approximately 33K) and the selected contractor must have the ability to perform the desired programming work in a timely and proficient manner. The application is in the public domain and is available for down load from the following web site: http://www.fs.fed.us/fmsc/fvs/software/index.php. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact no later than 3:00 p.m. local time on June 07, 2007.
