Description
The Office of the Product Manager- Medium Cannon Caliber Ammunition and the U.S. Army Joint Munitions & Lethality, LCMC, Acquisition Center is conducting a market survey to identify potential sources for the procurement of a replacement round for the 20mm PGU-28/B round. Current 20mm combat rounds limit mission effectiveness. These rounds are used on aircraft that utilize the M61 Cannon. To meet current mission requirements it is necessary to procure a non-fuzed, non explosive round with PGU-28/B performance. The Government has no Research, Development, Test and Engineering (RDT&E) dollars and therefore is seeking a non developmental item. The replacement round will be a form-fit-function replacement. The replacement round must have the same ballistic performance and physical dimensions as the PGU-28/B to prevent the need for software or equipment modification. Additionally, the replacement round must meet or exceed the safety requirements outlined in MIL-STD-1316, be a non-fuzed,non-explosive combat round with performance similar to the PGU-28/B, be cost effective and easily scaleable to mass production. If procured, the replacement round will utilize the same logistics support as the current 20 mm round. Based on the cost and design of this replacement round, the Air Force may transition to a single round for both combat and training with associated benefits in user proficiency and regularly rotated stock. The Government is interested in procuring a producible Technical Data Package, and may compete future buys. The Government does not intend to pay for any information. All responses are requested no later than 22 June 2007. Contact: Jim Terhune, OPM-MAS, (973) 724-2839 Jim Terhune, jterhune@pica.army.mil SFAE-AMO-MAS-SMC,Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey 07806-5000
