Description
The Corps of Engineers has a need for a contract for Fabrication and Delivery of floating mooring bitts and anchorages for the river chamber of the future Charleroi Locks located in western Pennsylvania. A total of fifteen (15) floating mooring bitt s and thirteen (13) anchorages are required; each bitt and anchorage is identical. Each mooring bitt consists of 3 ft 6 in diameter x 13 ft 8 in long stainless steel pontoon suspended below two line posts. The line post section is approximately 13 ft long . The line posts consist of and are connected to the pontoon using various sizes of tubular steel shapes. In addition, there are four sets of rollers on the line post section to permit the mooring bitt to ride up and down the anchorage frame. The approx imate dimensions of each mooring bitt are 27 ft long x 4 ft 6 in wide x 4 ft 6 ft deep. Each mooring bitt anchorage is a built up frame consisting of multiple components of steel angle, steel channels, and steel plate. In addition, several areas receive stainless steel cladding. Each mooring bitt anchorage is approximately 53 ft long x 7 ft wide x 5 ft deep. The majority of the components for both the bitts and the anchorages are connected via welding. All welded joints are to be tested by applicable n on-destructive testing (ultrasonic, magnetic particle, and visual). The contractor will be responsible to develop and submit detailed shop drawings for review and approval. The contractor is to deliver and offload the floating mooring bitts and anchorage s at Montgomery Locks and Dam on the Ohio River located at 100 Montgomery Dam Road, Monaca, PA 15061. The period of performance will be between 365 and 500 calendar days. This procurement is designated as a small business set aside. Magnitude of the proje ct is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. The Invitation for Bid (IFB) will be issued approximately June 20, 2007 on-line only through FedTeDS; therefore, requests for hardcopies of the specifications and drawings will not be honored. Requests must be made by registering for this solicitation through FedTeDS at http://www.fedteds.gov. Once registered, vendors, plan rooms and printing companies will be able to download the solicitation and drawings on or after the above issuance date.
