Description
RDECOM/CERDEC Army Power Division  Power Technology Branch is sponsoring an ADVANCED PLANNING MEETING (Industry Day) for Hybrid Intelligent (HI) Power Management Systems on 18 July 2007. The workshop is being held at the Fort Belvoir Officers Club in Fort Belvoir, Virginia. The purpose of the meeting is to introduce industry to the Armys need and goals for Hybrid Intelligent Power Management on the Tactical Battlefield. The Army looks to establish a new paradigm for managing power  at both the l oad and the source side - on the battlefield. The approach chosen shall enable input and conversion from any electric power source, enhance energy security, increase system durability, and reduce fuel and energy consumption rates at fixed installations an d in all tactical operational environments. The emerging architecture shall include: 1) Plug-and-play capability to accept any type of available power source  wind, solar, hydro-electric, utility, tactical/commercial generator sets, vehicles, batteries; 2) Energy recovery and storage systems for managing load transients, increasing efficiency of fuel use and energy conversion to a common power output; 3) Source Side Management to manage and synchronize the multiple power inputs and minimize the use of fossil fuel powered generators; 4) Load Side Management to manage power distribution and load shedding of non-critical loads to minimize fuel/energy use. Directions and information on hotels and travel accommodations will be provided directly to registrants. A registration fee of $23.00 will be collected at the door and will cover re freshments and lunch. All questions relating to registration, attendance requests (must include: company name and address, list of names attending and phone numbers) and any questions regarding this announcement must be made via e-mail dated no later than 13 July 07 to Mr. Matthew Bocknek at matthew.bocknek@armypower.army.mil. This workshop is the initial opportunity for all interested industrial firms to learn details about the HI Power Management Program, its development and potential future acquisition s. The Government will not reimburse companies for any expenses associated with attendance of the conference. there is no solicitation in connection with this announcement.
