- Description
- The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) plans to procure "brand name" Niksun 3500 Series NetVCR appliance and software to monitor traffic on USPTO's OHRNET/OFDNET II, at multiple connection points to provide clear visibility of traffic flows, traffic analysis and troubleshooting capabilities. This announcement is considered a "brand name" justification. This acquisition will be conducted utilizing Part 13 of the FAR, Simplified Acquisition procedures, and the test program authorized in FAR subpart 13.5, and the Patent and Trademark Acquisition Guidelines (PTAG). NIKSUN NetVCR provides a single integrated solution for proactive end-to-end network management. NetVCR's enterprise-wide integrated approach simplifies end-to-end network and application performance monitoring and troubleshooting, by offering full network visibility passively (non-intrusive), exceptional drill-down forensic analysis, integrated performance reports on all traffic, "add-as-you-grow" unlimited storage, secure and easy to use web interface, and extensive 3rd party compatibility. NetVCR appliances are shipped with all the software features installed but disabled out of the box. Software features are unlocked only by installing the purchased license keys from NIKSUN. NetVCR can be considered the recording device that captures traffic, stores everything in realtime, and has the ability to further break down that information into easy-to-understand data that can be access securely via a web browser. NetVCR is adaptive to a wide variety of network interfaces, they are: 10/100 copper Ethernet, gigabit copper Ethernet, fiber Ethernet, HSSI (High Speed Serial Interface), ATM, Packet over SONet, T1, T3, OC3, OC12, multilink PPP, ISL (Inter-Switch Link) and 802.1q. There is an existing installation of NIKSUN NetVCR, NetX appliances monitoring TRINET traffic. NetX is the enterprise reporting appliance that collects statistics data from remote NetVCR appliances enabling centralized reporting. When NetVCR appliances are installed in the OHRNET/OFDNET II network, the existing NetX, which has more than sufficient available processing cycles, can be configured to poll statistics data from them to generate specific reports, leverage data for optimization, and trending.
