Description
LATA/Parallax Portsmouth LLC (LPP), the environmental remediation contractor for the Department of Energy (DOE) at the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant (PORTS) is conducting Market Research/Sources Sought to determine the availability of contractors to provide transportation and processing services for classified low-level radioactive waste. This announcement is not a request for proposal. All interested parties should submit a Statement of Qualifications which shows their detailed capabilities and licenses for performing the following tasks: a.Mobilize at PORTS, the equipment necessary to safely and securely transport up to 300 containers of radioactively contaminated classified scrap metal weighing up to 40,000 pounds each. The containers dimensions are 11 feet 4 inches in diameter and 6 feet 6 inches in height and have a volume of 16 m3. These containers will require oversize permits for over the road transportation. b.Transport the materials to a currently licensed offsite facility permitted to receive at least Class A radioactive materials. Since some materials are classified, a specific security plan approved by the Department of Energy will be required. c.Process the containers to remove contents, sort and segregate nonconforming items, repackage the waste for shipment to the Nevada Test Site (NTS) for disposal using a NTS certified program. d.The vendor must have an existing DOE approved security plan and L/Q cleared personnel for performing this work. The objective is to have an offsite vendor augment the onsite processing of classified material containers at a secure facility to meet the NTS Waste Acceptance Criteria (WAC). The vendor must meet Department of Energy (DOE) classified material handling requirements.
