- Description
- The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) plans to award a sole source purchase order to MTS Systems Corporation (MTS) to procure a Multi-Channel, Multi-Station FlexTest GT Digital Controller and a Model 293.11 Hydraulic Service Manifold for the Turner Fairbank Research Center. The controller and hydraulic service manifolds will be operating with the FHWA, Research Center existing actuator (load-jacks) and high-pressure hydraulic pumps. It is essential that the new equipment and existing systems work properly together. By maintaining compatibility between the new and existing MTS equipment, FHWA can create test systems ranging in complexity form a single actuator applying a static load to multi-actuator rigs with time-history programmed loads plus a number of tests running at the same time. Only by continuing to use MTS control and hydraulic manifold that work with the existing MTS equipment will operation be possible and efficiently maintained. There is no other control system or hydraulic service manifolds of this type available which are compatible and interchangeable with the FHWA existing MTS equipment. Therefore, MTS is the only known vendor that can provide the required equipment. This is a Simplified Acquisition and the anticipated award date is on or about June 21, 2007.
