Description
The Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation) intends to award on a sole source basis with Excel Geophysical Services, Inc., Greenwood Village CO. They possess unique proprietary software necessary to successfully process the seismic reflection data to Reclamation specifications and requirements. Software unique to Excel Geophysical processing sequences include OPTIM's SeisOpt 2D velocity optimization software and consulting services, necessary to remove extreme topographic and lateral and vertical-velocity artifacts from the seismic reflection data, BP ARCO AVO workbench, which is necessary to interactively improve velocity estimates to improve reflection imaging, particularly in the complex structure associated with folded and faulted sedimentary rocks, the Cascade 2D-3D prestack time migration package developed exclusively for Excel Geophysical necessary to successfully image faults that are the target of Reclamation's investigations, and Data Modeling's Auto Imager necessary to provide high-resolution imaging of subsurface faults. Only Excel Geophysical possesses this unique combination of seismic reflection processing capabilities necessary to successfully execute processing of Reclamation's seismic reflection data. The vendor shall be located in the Denver CO area for actual, physical visits at their office by Government employees. WORK TO BE PERFORMED BY THE CONTRACTOR. The seismic reflection processing sequence involves many steps that can be broken into a modest number of overall tasks. The proprietary seismic reflection data consist of two 2-D lines. The total amount of resulting 2-D seismic reflection data will consist of ~46 line miles of 48-fold, 96- channel data. The data to be processed is located in Emery CO., UT. Task 1: Preprocessing. Read the SEGY data and geometry files from each 2D line. Input information from the observers notes and edit data as necessary. Establish line geometries in ProMAX and import the data into ProMAX. Task 2: Pick first arrivals. Perform velocity optimization to achieve a globally optimized velocity model using only first arrival travel time data and 2D line geometries as input using Excel proprietary software best-suited for this area, which is characterized by strong lateral velocity gradients, and in areas with extreme topography or complex near-surface structure. Task 3: Perform wave-equation datuming using the velocity models derived in Task 2. Perform surface-consistent residual statics calculations. Task 4: Estimate velocities down to basement located at two-way travel times (TWTT) of 4-5 s using Excel proprietary software or software such as BP ARCO AVO workbench, to interactively improve velocity estimates to improve reflection imaging, particularly in the complex structure associated with the folded and faulted sedimentary rocks in these two seismic reflection lines. Task 5: Kirchhoff pre-stack time migration. Perform common-offset Kirchhoff pre-stack time migration for both lines after common-offset binning and common-offset f-x deconvolution. Produce time stack sections for both 2-D lines. Task 6: Convert time stacks to depth sections using velocity fields reviewed and modified by Reclamation. Task 7: Provide Reclamation with DVDROMs containing SEGY outputs of Tasks 5 and 6 and ProMAX 7 line/area archives for both lines, including all processing flows, parameters, and associated data. Provide Reclamation with paper hardcopy reproductions of brute stacks, pre-stack-time-migrations, and depth sections for both lines. Deliverables from 8/1/07 through 8/30/07. Digital deliverables in the form of computer files via email, floppy disk, CD-ROM, or DVD-ROM.
