Description
This notice is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; offers are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP) set forth in FAR Part 13. This notice is being issued as a Request for Quotations (RFQ) for an Aerotech Traverse System or equivalent. Background: The NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC) has requirements to retrofit, repair and upgrade its existing traverse equipment and purchase new slides (stages) that will provide single-controller capability to control up to twenty-five slides that are used to position remotely a variety of opto-electronic equipment with which we collect combustion-related data. This purchase includes electronics to integrate new and existing units, replacement components for repair of existing units, and hardware for six new mechanical slides. Operationally, all stages will be controlled via the new control electronics that make up the rest of this procurement, enabling us to control a total of twenty-five stages that includes six new stages. This will also allow us to add stages in the future, so that we may control up to thirty-two slides, if necessary, using one controller. This purchase will make use of existing cables run to communicate between the slides and controller, which can be up to 75-feet away.
