- REQUEST FOR INFORMATION RFI-NAS-0217-07 Response Date: June 30, 2007 TO ALL INTERESTED PARTIES This announcement is posted as a Request for Information (RFI) only, for a future solicitation that will be posted in FEDBIZOPPS. This RFI is being issued to determine whether or not there are qualified sources that will be able to meet the requirements. The solicitation will be to provide the Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) with a standard 9MM Semi-Automatic Pistol. The requirement will be an estimated 500 units per year. This will be a requirements type, firm fixed unit price contract for a one year base period plus four one year option periods. The anticipated period of performance is October 1, 2007 through September 30, 2012 if all option years are exercised. If you have an interest in the upcoming solicitation, please provide a written response to the questions below and provide your response to P. A. Donahue-Ormandy, Contract Specialist via e-mail at pdonahueormandy@bop.gov. You are advised that providing responses to the questions will not automatically include you in the acquisition process for this solicitation. REQUEST FOR INFORMATION 1. What experience do you have in manufacturing firearms? 2. Have you provided the U.S. Government with firearms of this type or any type in the past? If so, what types of firearms? 3. Where will these firearms and components parts be manufactured? 4. Is there a Armor Certification course for these weapon taught by the manufacture? If so, is there a separate cost for the training or is it included in the price of the weapon? 5. How long is the Armor Certification valid? Is the certification valid per Armorer or model of weapon? 6. Does your weapon meet the current NIJ Standard 0112.03 for auto loading pistols? 7. Do you currently make a 9MM Semi-Automatic Pistol in a Double Action Only configuration, with no safety and ambidextrous magazine release? 8. Do you feel a pre-solicitation conference would provide any assistance in clarifying the requirement for this area? If so, explain how it would be helpful.
