Description
UNCLASSIFIED: PRE-SOLICITATION NOTICE: REPAIR GROUND SYSTEMS - LIGHTNING PROTECTION SYSTEM, BLDG. A-1006, NASKW. Project Description: This is a design/build contract. The lightning protection system shall meet or exceed the standards set forth by the National Electric Code (NEC) and Lightning Protection Institute (LPI). 1.0 SPECIFIC DESCRIPTION: The Contractor shall provide and install a lightning protection system. The system’s components shall protect the electronic communication systems and structures of the A-1006 compound. 1.1 Requirements: The work includes all labor, material and supervision to: The Contractor shall install a lightning protection system on building A-1006 and the adjacent antenna tower. Building A-1006 houses air field communication equipment and is essential for base operations. In the recent past this facility has been struck and rendered in-operable by lightning. These lightning strikes have been concentrated on the tower and damaging equipment within bldg. A-1006. It is believed that part of the grounding problem stems from the fact that the separate components of the system share a common ground. Air terminals, conductors, ground rods, grounding grids, fittings and all other materials shall be manufactured in compliance with standards for lightning protection components as reviewed by accredited testing agencies, i.e. UL 96. Locations, spacings, fastening methods, means of connecting and bonding and all of the details of installations shall comply with LPI-175, current edition, “Lightning Protection Systems Standard of Practice”. ESTIMATED PRICE RANGE: LESS THAN $25,000. ALL RESPONSIBLE SOURCES MAY SUBMIT A RESPONSE WHICH, IF TIMELY RECEIVED, MUST BE CONSIDERED BY THE AGENCY.
