Description

Amendment 04- This solicitation (AG-3K06-S-07-0004) is hereby issued as a Request for Proposal (RFP). All responsible sources may submit a proposal which will be considered by the agency. Attachment II REPORTS ITEM WHEN # OF COPIES SUBMIT TO Order Status Report - The Contractor shall provide a report of delivery orders that have NOT been processed. The report shall include the contract number, and sufficient bibliographic data (i.e. author, title, date and ISBN) to enable unique identification of the items. (See SOW 2.1.1c Reports) By 15th of October, January, April, and July (Quarterly) 1 each CO and COR Expenditure Report ? Provide an accounting of all payments made under the contract. Include contractor and order numbers. (See SOW 2.1.1c Reports) On-Line Monthly by the 15th Subject Area Coverage ? Provide title list, number ordered, and amount spent by subject area. The vendor may send an actual book for review or an electronic or print notification (See New Title Notification). Approval Plan A plan set up with a vendor whereby the library details the type of material it wishes to collect (see Profile) and the vendor sends books or email notices about titles (see New Title Notifications) that meet those terms for the library to review. The library can either accept the item for purchase (see approval order) or return the item for any reason (see also Returns). Drop shipment A method of delivery where a vendor arranges for a title to be sent directly to the library from a publisher or other supplier. Used for urgently needed material. EDI Electronic Data Interchange EDIFACT An EDI (see EDI) protocol for the electronic exchange of financial information. Endeavor The company that makes Voyager (See also Voyager and ILS). Firm Order An one time order placed with a vendor or publisher for a specified title identified by an NAL selector. FTP File Transfer Protocol is used to connect two computers over the Internet so that the user of one computer can transfer files and perform file commands on the other computer. ILS Integrated Library System (see also Voyager and Endeavor). ISBN International Standard Book Number. A control number assigned to books (i.e. monographs); used by publishers and vendors to identify unique titles and editions. Often used to track orders and inventory. ISSN International Standard Serial Number. A control number assigned to serial publications; used by publishers and vendors to track subscriptions, publications, and inventory. Monograph A book. In this instance it may also mean a DVD or CD title. Monographic Series A group of titles usually on a particular topic or theme produced by a publisher. Examples: Methods in Molecular Biology, Politics and the Environment, Springer Biotechnology Series. Multipart sets A single work published in several physical volumes (the volumes may or may not be published at the same time). Multivolume sets See Multipart sets New Title Notification A service whereby the vendor alerts the library of new publications that the Library wishes to know about, but does not want to review the actual physical book (see also Approval Plan). Numbered series A group of titles published in a series and given a volume number. For example: Methods in Molecular Biology, volume 259. (See monographic series). OCLC Online Computer Library Center. Founded in 1967, OCLC Online Computer Library Center is a nonprofit, membership, computer library service and research organization dedicated to the public purposes of furthering access to the world's information and reducing information costs. More than 57,000 libraries in 112 countries and territories around the world use OCLC services to locate, acquire, catalog, lend and preserve library materials. (See also PromptCat) Profile A profile is a set of parameters set up by a library to tell a vendor what types of publications in what subject areas the library wishes to receive on approval (see also Approval Plan). PromptCat An OCLC service that provides bibliographic records (for a fee) to a library based on information received from a vendor fulfilling an order for the library. The OCLC bibliographic record is imported into the ILS to create the database behind NAL's online catalog Agricola. Returns Titles returned to the vendor because they did not meet the terms of the approval profile, were duplicates, or because they were damaged or otherwise defective. Shelf-ready A service whereby the vendor attaches a barcode, call number label and property stamp to each book purchased by the library. USMARC A communication standard used by most libraries and vendors to encode and exchange bibliographic information. Voyager Integrated Library System The product name of the library's automated system used to to order, catalog, process, and circulate the library's collections. (See also Endeavor and ILS).
