- Description
- The purpose of this project is to replace a deficient trail bridge across palisades creek with a premanufactured steel truss bridge. Work will consist of constructing bridge, bridge abutments and backfill/approach grade. Trail work will be done by others. Located approximately 6 miles up forest trail 084, trail 112 begins at the crossing of palisades creek. The Forest Service plans on relocating the crossing location downstream approximately 200 feet. At this location the hillside meets the flood plain. Across the stream from this location is an elevated bench that tapers down to stream level. The design length of the bridge is 60 ft. Excavation to set the abutments and place fill behind to bring up to grade will be necessary. Access to the site is by non-motorized trail. It is anticipated that the bridge will be delivered to the site via helicopter in one piece and other material packed in by horse or helicopter. Motorized vehicles are not allowed in the area, however such equipment as generators, compressors and jumping jack style compactors will be permitted. The Forest Service will locate material borrow source(s) prior to construction.
