- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to issue a sole source indefinite delivery-indefinite quantity type contract to Roche Diagnostics Corporation of Indianapolis, IN, for the purchase of commercially available LightCycler FastStart DNA Master-Mix-Hybridization Probes (Reagent Kits), including some that are modified, specifically, for CDC purposes. Currently, the CDC supplies these high sensitivity and high specificity real-time PCR( Polymerase Chain Reaction) kits to the LRN (Laboratory Response Network) and BioWatch, recognized National assets in counterterrorism supported by CDC, whose purposes are the surveillance, detection, analysis, and reporting of agents of bioterrorism and agents causing any emergency public health problem. There will be a base period of performance of twelve (12) months and four 12-month option periods. The estimated total maximum quantity of the contract including base period and option years is 20,300 kits. 5,300 of model #2239272 + 15,000 modified kits. The reagent kits referenced above are proprietary items and contain patented technology. Justification: The authority for this sole source procurement is FAR part 6.302-1. Supplies required are available from only one responsible source and no other types of supplies will satisfy agency requirements. Roche Diagnostics is the only known source for these proprietary reagent kits. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation is available. However, responsible sources ,who believe that they can provide the required reagent kits, need to submit a written notification of interest and capability to the Contracting Specialist by June 22, 2007.
