- Description
- Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) Next Generation of Tactical Environmental Clothing (NGTEC) Description The 77th Aeronautical Systems Group (77 AESG), seeks sources from industry with the capabilities to perform research and development to improve the Austere Environment Undergarments (AEU) and the Wet and Windy Weather System (W3S). In addition, the 77 AESG seeks sources from industry for the research and development of a Tactical Operations Glove (TOG) designed to eliminate the need to carry various different gloves and provide additional protection to the Battlefield Airmen. The scope of this effort shall be to develop materials with integrated protection from environmental conditions, flame and incendiary weapons, and chemical and biological exposure. Currently issued environmental clothing and protection is environment specific, with limited adaptability. New technology in this area should be integrated into the Special Operations Forces (SOF) clothing and gear. Fielded systems should be man-portable with personal, environmental, camouflage, concealment, and deception (CCD), and support gear integrated together into one individual system. AEU improvements should additionally incorporate new design changes determined by the AFSOC Battlefield Airman. The AEUs should allow for body heat, cold, and moisture exchange (breathe) as well as be lightweight so as not to significantly increase the individual's physical workload or make noise during movement. The new AEUs should additionally have an improved flame retardant capibility. W3S next generation improvements should be more fire resistance and provide a limited protection against chemical, biological and toxic industrial materials (TIM). TOG should be designed to eliminate the need to carry various different gloves and provide additional protection from fire, limited chemical and biological agents and TIM. This RFI requires compliance to the Barry Amendment. Numbered Note 27 applies to this RFI. Place of Performance will be at the contractor's facility. Deliverables are to be sent to the HQ AFSOC/A5TS office. Period of Performance will be 18 months after contract award.
