Description
General Information Document Type: Request for Information (RFI) Posted Date: 6/18/07 Response Date: 7/20/07 Description: This is NOT a solicitation notice. It is a RFI to assist the government with its market research. The Joint Program Manager Decontamination is conducting a market survey to determine the non-developmental availability of a Contaminated Human Remains Transport System. This system will consist of two steps, but vendors are invited to provide information on either one or both pr ocesses. First, the system must provide for the safe transportation of remains from the point of fatality to a Mortuary Affairs Decontamination Collection Point (MADCP), where they will be decontaminated to allow Mortuary Affairs personnel to safely perfo rm their mission. Second, the system must provide a container capable of safely transporting contaminated remains from the decontamination point to the Continental United States for disposition. Parameters for the handling of remains from point of fatali ty to the MADCP system include: (1) How long will the system remained sealed and not leak fluids or off-gas vapors after remains have been placed inside? (2) How many times can the system be decontaminated with standard military decontaminants and retain its effectiveness? (3) Has the product been tested for efficacy against any hazardous materials? Parameters for the transportation of remains from the MADCAP back to the Continental United States include: (1) How will the system provide for the safe tran sport of all decontaminated remains to a servicing mortuary in CONUS? (2) Will the system meet UN and IATA standards for transportation of hazardous material? Please provide a white paper explaining the capabilities of the product and its components. I nclude supporting documentation as it applies. In addition to the parameters above, please address the following: (1) Specify whether the product is designed to handle the transport of remains from the point of incident to the MADCP or the transportation from MADCP to CONUS (or both); (2) Cost per system; (3) Dimensions, including height, width, length, weight; (4) The weight capacity and internal dimensions of each container; (5) Transportation requirements for the product; (6) Power requirements; (7) Results of any pertinent testing; (8) MSDSs if applicable. Please submit responses by July 23, 2007. Selected candidates will be notified of intent for further review by Mid-August, 2007.
