Description
Proposals are being sought for replacement and installation of two, large concrete bottomless arch structures located on the Malheur National Forest, Blue Mountain Ranger District, Grant County, near Prairie City, Oregon. The two sites are Upper Site, Road 62 Milepost 13.8, Lower Site, Road 62 Milepost 13.5, County Road 62 approximately 13.5 and 13.8 miles Southeast of Prairie City, Oregon. The work includes replacing two existing steel pipe arches with pre-cast 3-sided box culverts. At least one of the structures shall be completed in 2008; the second structure may be completed in 2009. The contractor must provide for public vehicle traffic egress through the project site on County Road 62 throughout duration of the work. One of the 3-sided boxes will be placed on poured-in-place concrete footings or optional precast footings; for this site. The other 3-sided box will be placed on pre-cast slab foundation; for this site, the contractor is expected to route public vehicle traffic within the County Road right-of-way. At both sites, simulated streambed rock will be placed inside the structures and the adjacent stream channel and shaped to simulate a natural channel. Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) retaining wall headwalls shall be constructed at the ends of both structures. Large riprap is to be placed at the corners of the culverts. Stringent dewatering, erosion and sediment control measures will be required. The roadway will be reestablished to the existing alignment, and the aggregate base and asphalt concrete surfacing replaced. The estimated cost range for both projects is $500,000 to $1,000,000. A 20% bid bond will be required with all offers, with a resulting 100% performance and payment bond required after award. In-steam work is restricted to July 15th to August 15th for each year.
