Description
NASA/ARC has a requirement for One (1) 32-CPU Parallel Linux System comprised of fast 64 bit processors that are capable of supporting large memory (2GB or more per CPU), high speed and large capacity I/O system and gigbit ethernet for internal communication between CPU?s. This must be a turn key system ? ready for use in an office environment when delivered. The computer system must be tuned for ab initio quantum chemistry calculations and have been benchmarked results for the quantum chemistry software required for this research: Gaussian2003, Molpro2006, PQS3.3, VASP, and CHAMP. These software packages should be preloaded into the system (using our existing software licenses). In addition, the computer system must have a graphical interface for efficient input preparation and post-job analysis for at least one of these quantum chemistry software packages. NASA/ARC intends to purchase the items from Parallel Quantum Solutions because it is the only vendor that both designs and assembles the parallel Linux systems and writes and supports one of the top ab initio quantum chemistry software packages (PQS3.3). This is the only company that can provide a Linux computer cluster that is specially tuned for computational chemistry and physics calculations and meet the applications software installation and integration requirement for this procurement. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on 07/05/2007. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
