- Description
- Amendment 00003 Final Questions and Answers NAMA-07-R-0010 Quote due No Later Than 3:00 PM, June 20, 2007 Question - This is not a color system correct? Answer - Correct, both the roll-film microfilm and microfiche scanners are to produce grayscale or bi-tonal images, they are not color scanners. Question - Should we ignore the speed issues for Production Environment for the microfiche scanner? Answer - The production capacity cited in the RFP is incorrect, the production capacity for microfiche scanners should be 15,000 to 35,000 images per day. Question- Will remote access to the scan stations and server be allowed for support purposes? Answer- At this time, remote access is not possible. We are working on trying to make it possible. Question- If remote access is allowed, does the NARA have existing preferred remote access software to be installed on the systems, or will that be up to the contractor to provide? Answer- Since currently there is no remote access, we do not have a preferred remote access software application at this time. Question- Will the NARA be providing the equipment and media to perform the backups, or should this be included in the proposal? Answer: Mass digital storage and back-up of digital files is not part of this acquisition. NARA is working on these needs and functionality separately. Question- How many different digitization projects will be going on during the period of performance? Answer: The number of projects at any given time will vary. Typically, it may be between 8 and 16 on-going or longer-term projects across all of our lab areas, and many individual work requests. Question- The document mentions that the local network shared drives are currently being backed up to tape devices. I did not see any other mention of a backup strategy for the integrated system. Answer: NARA is working on the Electronic Records Archives (ERA, info at- http://www.archives.gov/era/). All digital copies we create using the equipment to be purchased under this acquisition will likely be stored and managed over the long-term in the ERA infrastructure.
