- Description
- The above referenced solicitation is hereby amended to respond to technical questions submitted. Technical questions and responses are hereby provided: Question: 1) Is this for an upright or inverted microscope? Answer: It could be either. Our primary concern is obtaining a system with a very low level of vibration. In general, we expect that inverted microscopes would have greater stability and lower levels of vibration, and thus better meet our needs. Question: 2) Is this microscope motorized or manual? 3) If motorized, which components are to be motorized? Answer: It could be either. We do not require motorized stage motion or focusing. We expect that most modern microscopes have motorized apertures in the illumination optics. Question: 4) Do you want me to quote light sources for incident and transmitted light, and if so, what types? Answer: Yes; light sources should be standard halogen lamps. Question: 5) Do you want fluorescent filter sets, and if so, which ones? Answer: No. We anticipate installing our own filters, appropriate to the particular experiments being run. Please note our requirement: "The capacity to switch between at least 3 reflectors/filters in the incident-light axis. At least one of these reflector/filter elements must be rapidly replaceable by the user." Question: 6) What is the application? An explanation of the application would be very helpful. Answer: A typical experiment would involve: ? Introducing collimated laser light which would be focused by the objective lens onto the sample. The sample would likely be a delicate fabricated micromechanical structure. ? Collecting the reflected light for subsequent analysis (for example involving comparing its phase to that of the incident light) Simultaneously illuminating the sample with broadband light for visualization purposes The due date for quotations remains unchanged.
