- Description
- Requirements: 1) Easily relocatable structures, either intact or through quick/non-labor intensive disassembly. a. Used for aircraft maintenance structures, where the aircraft arrangement on the ramp changes to optimize operations and parking to accommodate new missions. b. Used as vehicle maintenance facilities where our vehicle motor pools are consolidating, yet will most likely move again as we expand our land and footprint. 2) Ability to reconfigure to allow flexibility for future utilization a. Used as multipurpose facilities to support current functions that are slated to relocate as we execute our master plan b. Storage warehouses that can grow and shrink as our base population grows and shrinks 3) Compact storage (nesting or folding of components). 4) Minimum 17? sidewall height to allow full width capability to construct two-story mezzanine/storage/admin space. a. Internal structures will be self supporting and not attached or part of the requested structure/shell. b. Due to land constraints, we must utilize multi-story (2) administrative facilities, or have the ability to construct a mezzanine office in a high bay warehouse or maintenance facility. 5) Vertical sidewalls, or near vertical (w/in 1 ft) to provide fully usable space a. More efficient for second story for story and high bay warehouse. 6) Width of 40-60 ft, with variable lengths. We intend to standardize to allow future ?mix and match? of components for future requirements a. Length and width of aircraft, components, and vehicles dictates a minimum 40 ft width. Add space for material handling equipment (i.e. forklift operations) and anything smaller than 40 ft isn?t feasible or efficient use of our limited space. 7) Insulated, or easily to insulate using common industry materials and manual application a. Power usage is becoming critical on BAF. We experience hot summers and cold winters and rely on electric heat and cooling. We are unable to control the climate of our large open bay maintenance facilities due to the enormous power necessary to heat or cool these un-insulated spaces. The fabric sides make it difficult and ineffective to attempt to insulate. 8) Wind and snow loads of: 20 PSF and 33 PSF respectively a. We get lots of wind, and a little bit of snow with some ice. 9) Metal siding and roofing (no fabric structures) a. Provides a better environment and is more durable.
