- Description
- The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division Lakehurst intends to negotiate a purchase order for the procurement of services to repair two Giddings & Lewis Horizontal Machining Centers to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications. The Government does not own specifications or drawings to permit full and open competition. Giddings & Lewis Machine Tools, LLC (OEM) has the parts, inspection equipment and certified service technicians to perform the repair services which consist of disassembling rear of headstock, remove draw bar from headstock and replace fingers on draw bar. Re-install draw bar, check dimension clamp and unclamp stroke, then check draw force and re-assemble headstock for Machine# 445-0156. Repair service to Machine# 450-0308 will consist of checking alignments and headstock. Headstock out of tolerance two column ways require scraper to correct. Scraper will correct alignment of headstock to column guide way. Requires removal of headstock from column and scraper to scrape guide edge. Align machine and recheck w z parallel after headstock scraping. Giddings & Lewis Machine Tool will provide detailed service and inspection reports upon completion of repair services. The Government intends to procure this item under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304, as implemented by FAR 6.302-1. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which may be considered by the Government in determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the Government not to open the requirement to competition based upon the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Numbered Note 22.
