Description
This amendment to RFQ N00178-07-Q-3024 is being posted to both the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) webpage located at http://www.fbo.gov and the Navy Electronic Commerce on Line (NECO) website located at http://neco.navy.mil. While it is understood that FBO is the single point of entry for posting of synopsis and solicitations to the Internet, NECO is the alternative in case FBO is unavailable. Please feel free to use either site to access information posted by the Navy Sea Systems Command. a. The purpose of this amendment is to provide answers to questions submitted in response to RFQ N00178-07-Q-3024 issued on 19 June 2007 and to extend the closing date. b. The quotation closing date has been extended to 5 July 07. c. The questions and answers are identified as follows: (1) QUESTION: Can the response to the subject Solicitation be submitted via email? ANSWER: YES. (2) QUESTION:Can the wind velocity requirement for the fully extended 100?+ elevated tower in the self-supporting configuration as specified in Item 8 of the Solicitation be reduced from 80 mph to 50 mph given the buyer?s intended loading? No wind reduction in the guyed configuration or during the raising/lower process is requested. ANSWER: 80 mph wind speed requirement can be lowered to 50 mph. Technical reasoning is supported by no increase in chance (of 1%) of experiencing 50 vs. 80 mph gusts at locations for use of equipment. (3)QUESTION: As a Buyer cost savings suggestion, would a ?painted? trailer sub-structure and perimeter framing with galvanized diamond plate decking be considered as opposed to an all ?galvanized? trailer structure? ANSWER: Previous tower purchases of painted frames have significantly rusted through paint when exposed to shore-based marine applications. Trailer sub-structure and perimeter framing along with tower sections, etc. are required to be galvanized. Word format to DLGR_NSWC_XDS13@navy.mil, or via FAX (540)653-6810, Attn: XDS13-5. Reference RFQ Number N00178-07-Q-3024 on all correspondence.
