- In accordance with FAR subpart 13.106(b) the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to issue a sole source purchase order to Public Health Agency of Canada, in the amount of $150,000.00 to access their Global Public Health Intelligence Network (GPHIN). CDC believes that Public Health Agency of Canada is the only organization that can meet the requirements of the order because GPHIN is the multilingual early-warning global public health surveillance system that is able to gather, translate, and disseminate public health information in eight languages including the World Heath Organization (WHO) official languages Arabic, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), English, Farsi, French, Spanish, and Russian on a near real-time 24/7 basis. Without this service CDC would not be able to monitor in six different languages in the media and prevent threatening health issues worldwide. The anticipated award date is July 17, 2007. Interested parties who feel that they possess the capabilities to provide this service described above should submit a capabilities statement demonstrating their abilities to provide the service. The information received in response to this notice will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement. Documentation should be received within fifteen (15) days after the date of publication of this synopsis to be considered by CDC. A determination by the CDC not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within discretion of the government.
