- This publication service as notice of intent to procure services for the Department of Interior Bureau of Land Management, on a sole source basis, with Michigan Tech Research Institute, in accordance with FAR Subparts 13.106(b) (1) and 6.302-1, in the amount of $25,000 under NAICS: 541710. The tasks required for this contract consist of the following: provide services in the form of research, coordination, and supervision of Southern University of Baton Rouge and Michigan Tech Research Institute scientists while at the Bering Glacier camp. Research includes but is not limited to: global climate change, glacier ablation, bathymetry and water quality, salinity intrusion, and glacial thinning. MTRI will coordinate with university and MTRI scientists in the development of a water quality and bathymetry report, a current and past status of glacier ablation report, and a monograph covering the cumulated research of the Bering Glacier that has been conducted over the past several years. MTRI will also provide training and on-site expertise for Southern University of Baton Rouge, Coastal Change Department scientists while at Bering Glacier. MTRI has been involved in various graduate research studies at the Bering Glacier for several years. Their previous work at the Bering Glacier has been well received and documented in scientific literature. MTRI possesses the unique qualifications related to coastal oceanography and climate change and has a unique mix of senior staff with expertise in GIS and remote sensing technology used for water quality measurements and global climate change research. MTRI also has clear expertise in combining findings from various scientific disciplines into a meaningful integration with relationships to BLM management. The government intends to award a firm fixed price contract with a period of performance anticipated to commence July 28, 2007 and end on January 31, 2008. This is not a request for competitive quotes.
