Description
MSHA IS SEEKING VENDORS THAT CAN PROVIDE THE BELOW REQUIREMENTS. 1. ON-SITE TRAINING - ADOBE PROFESSIONAL - 2 DAYS FOR 11 STUDENTS. TRAINING TOPICS INCLUDE: THE DIFFERENT SOFTWARE COMPONENTS OF ACROBAT (ACROBAT ELEMENTS, ACROBAT STANDARD, ACROBAT PROFESSIONAL, ACROBAT 3D), AND POPULAR PLUG-IN PROGRAMS. ATTENDEES WILL LEARN HOW TO CREATE PDFS FROM COMMON SOFTWARE, TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS OF PDFS USED BY FEDERAL PUBLISHERS, SPECIFICATIONS FOR PDFS TO UPLOAD TO WEB STIES, INTRATNET AND FOR PRESS-QUALITY PDFS SUBMITTED FOR REPRODUCTION. ATTENDEES SHOULD ALSO LEARN HOW TO ENHANCE PDFS FILES WITH BOOKMARKS, ETC. 2. ON-SITE TRAINING - PHOTOSHOP AND INDESIGN WORKSHOP (LEVEL 1) - 4 DAYS TOTAL FOR 11 STUDENTS. PHOTOSHOP TRAINING WILL INCLUDE: BASIC TOOLS FOR EDITING PHOTOS AND BITMAPPED IMAGES. TOOLS WILL INCLUDE: SELECTION TOOLS, CREATING LAYERS, USING EDITING AND CORRECTING TOOLS, ADDING TEXT TO PHOTOS, REMOVING BACKGROUNDS, CREATING SPECIAL EFFECTS, AND EXPORTING PRESS-QUALITY AND WEB-QUALITY VERSIONS, COLOR MANAGEMENT, COLOR CALIBRATION, COLOR MODES, WORKSPACES, AND QUALITY AND RESOLOUTIONS FOR PRESS-QUALITY PUBLICATIONS. INDESIGN WORKSHOP WILL INCLUDE: BASIC TOOLS FOR DESKTOP PUBLISHING, CREATING A DOCUMENT, PAGE SETUP, MASTER PAGES, BLEEDS, IMPORTING TEXT AND GRAPHICS, FORMATTING TEXT, PARAGRAPH, CHARACTER, AND OBJECT STYLESHEETS, USING PMS SPOT AND CMYK INK COLORS, PREFLIGHTING FILES, PACKAGING FILES, AND EXPORTING ACROBAT PDFS FOR PRESS AND WEB. 3. ON-SITE TRAINING - PHOTOSHOP AND INDESIGN WORKSHOP (LEVEL 2) - 4 DAYS TOTAL FOR 11 STUDENTS. PHOTOSHOP TRAINING WILL INCLUDE: METHODS FOR CORRECTING TYPICAL PROBLEMS IN PHOTOGRAPHS, CREATING DUOTONES AND SPOT-COLOR CHANNELS, SPECIAL TECHNIQUES FOR RETOUCHING PORTRAITS, COLOR-CORRECTING CASTS AND FLESH TONES, CREATING MONTAGES AND COLLAGES, EXTENDING THE CANVAS AND PHOTOGRAPHIC BACKGROUNDS, SILHOUETTING, USING ARTISTIC FILTERS AND LAYER BLENDING MODES. INDESIGN WORKSHOP WILL INCLUDE: HOW TO CREATE MORE COMPLEX, LONG DOCUMENTS. TOPICS INCLUDE: MULTIPLE MASTER PAGES, NESTED STYLES, ADVANCED TEXT FORMATTING AND STYLESHEETS, TABLES AND TABULAR MATERIAL, CREATING AND FORMATTING TABLES OF CONTENT, CREATING AND USING TEMPLATES, MANAGING MULTI-CHAPTER PUBLICATIONS, PAGINATION, PREFLIGHTING AND PACKAGING FILES FOR PRINT TO CONTRACTORS. ROOM AND BOARD WILL BE PROVIDED BY MSHA. COURSE DESCRIPTIONS ARE EQUIVALENT TO THE U.S. GOVERNMENT PRINTING OFFICE. TRAINING MUST BE EQUAL. QUESTIONS MUST BE ASKED BY JULY 2, 2007. NO PHONES CALLS WILL BE ACCEPTED. RESPONSES ARE DUE BY 3:00PM (EST) JULY 11, 2007. The following questions have been asked in reference to the sources sought notice. Answers given follow each question. 1. What is the budget for this training? We typically charge by trainer day rate. I am not at liberty to disclose this information. 2. Could the training be delivered consecutively? I.e. 10 days straight, Mon - Fri for two straight weeks. The training cannot be delivered consecutively. It must be scheduled around the availability of staff. 3. Can MSHA provide room and board over a weekend if training was delivered consecutively as above? MSHA can provide room and board, but the training will not be scheduled over two consecutive weeks. 4. Is MSHA willing to pay mileage to and from Reston at the government standard rate if the training is run consecutively? The cost must be included in the bid price. 5. If the training is broken into several weeks, would MSHA pay for airfare from Reston, VA to Beaver, WV The cost must be included in the bid price. 6.When are you anticipating having the above referenced solicitation ready to receive bids? At this time we are seeking sources that are able to offer the requested services. A request for quotation will be sent in response to the FedBizOpps request. 7. Is there an incumbent for this project? If yes, who is it? At this time we are seeking sources that can provide the requested services. 8. When do you expect to start the classes? Probably after October 1. 9. How many training sessions will be provided in a one year time period? The training will be 3 separate weeks as follows: one week for the 2 days of Adobe Professional; one week for 2 days of InDesign Level 1 and 2 days of Photoshop Level 1; and one week for 2 days of Indesign Level 2 and 2 days of Photoshop Level 2. 10.Will you provide the training manuals? We will not provide training manuals. 11. Do you know when the formal RFP or RFQ will be issued, or should we submit a proposal based upon the information currently available on the FBO site? A request for quote will be issued after the closing for sources sought. You may submit one if you would like based on the information provided. 12. Will a classroom be provide with all necessary equipment for teaching the courses? Yes a classroom will be provided. I?m not sure what equipment you will need but if you would like to send me a list, I can let you. We are a training facility so I feel that we would probably have all the equipment needed. 13. When are you looking to have the training done by? At present, there are no positive dates in mind. After award, then timelines would be looked at. Our facility is quite busy so we would have to look at open dates. 14. What version of the products are being used? Acrobat 8. Photoshop and InDesign CS2. 15. Is the software PC or MAC based?
