Description

PRE-SOLICITATION NOTICE FOR SEISMIC UPGRADE PROJECT. The Portland VA Medical Center anticipates putting the solicitation, including specifications and drawings, out for bid on or around July 27, 2007. All work will be performed at the Portland, OR VA Medical Center. The VA will be looking for qualified general contractors that can furnish all labor, equipment, materials, supplies and supervision to complete a seismic upgrade of a 25,000 square foot building. Trades include hazardous material abatement, demolition, mechanical, electrical and general construction. Generally, work involves: a) Seismic upgrades to moment frames of a two story steel Butler building; b) Seismic upgrades to interior mechanical and electrical such as ducting, conduit and lighting fixtures; c) Repaint interior of building; d) New flooring throughout interior of building; e) Replace two exterior doors with larger doors, one to have automatic opener; f) Replace suspended ceiling; g) Replace two foot bridges; h) Replace a portion of the exterior metal siding; i) Replace windows; j) Build new clerestory approximately 500 sf; and k) Replace all exhaust fans. Work shall be done in such a manner as to protect surrounding structures and avoid interference with VA operations outside the work site. The solicitation will be issued pursuant to the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program. Applicable NAICS Code is 236220. The estimated price range is between $1 million and $2 million. The date and time of any scheduled site-visits will be noted in the solicitation, which as noted above, will be issued at a later date. It is anticipated that the total time to complete the project will be approximately 365 days after issuance of Notice to Proceed.
