Description

The National Institutes of Standards and Technology (NIST), Acquisition Management Division, on behalf of the Center for Nanoscale Science and Technology, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR 13.106(b)(1), with Pascal Technologies of Fredericksburg, VA for the purchase of Gamma ion pumps. Sole source determination is based on the following: NIST currently utilizes existing Gamma Vacuum ion pumps, titanium sublimation (TSP) pumps, and pump controllers. NIST also maintains an extensive spare parts inventory for the equipment with an estimated value of $120,000.00. The ion pumps to be purchased are drop in replacement parts. Compatibility of the existing Gamma Vacuum, pumps and inventory must be 100 percent. Gamma is the sole manufacturer; however, Pascal Technologies is the sole distributor within the eastern coastal region. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, responses received by July 24, 2007 will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
