- The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has a single source requirement for use of a particular brand, for the acquisition of two HF Transmitters, Harris Corp. part number RF-1140C-03 1 KW to be used in the Volatile Meteorological System (VOLMET), from Harris Corporation, Rochester, New York. The VOLMET is used throughout the world to provide local weather information to the National Airspace System (NAS). The VOLMET system was configured to use the Harris manufactured transmitters. The FAA intends to solicit and negotiate only with Harris Corporation, Rochester, New York, in accordance with Acquisition Management System (AMS) Policy 3.2.2.4, Single Source Selection. The FAA conducted a market survey April 10, 2007 through April 16, 2007 and the results of this survey support our determination to solicitation and negotiate with only one firm. This announcement is for information purposes only, not a request for proposals.
