Description
F- Forest Tree Thinning The solicitation is for timber stand improvement and thinning activities on the Ashland and Sioux Ranger Districts of the Custer National Forest. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, equipment, supervision, transportation, supplies (except those designated as Government furnished), and incidentals to perform all work necessary on the areas specified. All aspects of the work program shall be performed in an organized, systematic manner to assure services will be performed over the entire unit. There are two items of work: Work Item 1 -Ekalaka Hills Thinning, Sioux Ranger District (approximately 171 acres). A PREBID TOUR is schedule on 7/30/07 at 0900. Meet at the Sioux Ranger District. This item consists of cutting undesirable ponderosa pine trees while selecting trees with desirable characteristics for release and treatment of activity created slash. Additional slashing of storm damaged trees, including blow down, and snapped off trees is required. All sub-items are located seven to nine road miles south of Ekalaka, MT in T1N, R58E. Sub-items 1.1 to 1.4 are in section 29, sub-items 1.5 to 1.7 and 1.9 are in section 28, sub-item 1.8 is in section 17, sub-item 10 is in section 32 and sub-item 1.11 is in section 20. The main access routes are Forest Roads 3813, 3104 and 3071. Work Item 2 -Fly Wilbur Timber Stand Improvement, Ashland Ranger District (approximately 386 acres). A PREBID TOUR is schedule on 7/31/07 at 1000. Meet at the Ashland Ranger District. This item consists of cutting undesirable ponderosa pine trees while selecting trees with desirable characteristics for release and treatment of activity created slash. These subunits have been recently harvested under the Fly Wilbur Timber Sale. All Sub Items are located approximately 15 road miles East of Ashland, MT and are accessed by Forest Roads 4775 and 4776. All sub-items lay within T3S, R46E in sections 1, 2, 11, 12 and 13. Portions of sub-item 2.8 are within T3S, R47E, sections 6 and 7. Work is estimated to begin from approximately August 27, 2007 to December 25, 2007 for both Work Items. Magnitude of project is between $25,000 and $100,000. The solicitation package will be available for Quoters approximately July 26, 2007 and should be downloaded from this website.
