Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to award a purchase order on a sole source basis to EnergySolutions, Inc. (formerly Duratek) under the authority of FAR 13.106 1(b), soliciting from a single source. The object of this requirement is for processing and disposal services for Low Level Radioactive Waste (LLRW). The results of market research have resulted in a determination that EnergySolutions, Inc. appears to be the only source for this service that is located on the East Coast. The only other authorized LLRW facility is located on the West Coast and NIST has determined that the increased transportation costs to ship LLRW to the West Coast is not in the best interest of the Government. The anticipated award date of this order is on or about ten (10) days from the date of this notice. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. Interested parties that believe they can satisfy the requirement to provide to noted system may provide evidence to so indicate no later than the response date noted above. A determination by the Government whether to compete this proposed purchase order is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. For information, call the POC identified below.
