Description

The Department of Interior (DOI), U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), has a requirement for the conduct of electromagnetic and magnetic surveys with 100% coverage in the 300-acre Crystal Digging Area located in the Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge near Cherokee, Oklahoma. The requirement includes providing digitally recorded and processed electromagnetic and magnetic data and associated interpretations in accordance with the specifications. The area is popular for digging selenite crystals and is generally open to the public from April through October. The site has been temporarily closed after the discovery of a CAIS (chemical agent identification set) by a young boy who was digging for selenite crystals and was injured when he broke open a CAIS vial. The site is flat and wide open for surveying with the exception of occasional metal and wood posts. The geophysical target will be the metal fragments associated with the AN-M69 incendiary bombs and the metal caps of individual CAIS units. Note that sustained winds of 20 to 60 mph have been observed at this investigation area. It is anticipated that the solicitation will be available on or shortly after July 18, 2007 at the following web address: http:ideasec.nbc.gov. No hard copies of the solicitation will be available. The NAICS (North American Industry Classification System) code for this project is 541360 and, although this competition is not anticipated to be limited to small business, the small business size standard $4.5 million.
