Description
COMNAVAIRSYSCOM is seeking information from potential suppliers regarding electret microphones for MBU-20 Series Aviator's Oxygen Masks. The microphones will be used in the MBU-23/P Aviators Oxygen Mask to mitigate "hard-to-fit" subjects that fall outside the 3 to 97 percentile intended fit range for the male aircrew population and smaller stature females. The microphone will be a noise cancelling, DC-powered, high gain microphone designed for use in pressure type oxygen mask. It will be a component part of the airborne communication system, which will provide communication of high intelligibility under extreme noise conditions encountered in military aircraft. THIS ANNOUNCMENT IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. There is no solicitation available at this time. This sources sought synopsis is seeking information from sources that are capable of manufacturing electret microphones. Responses to this sources sought synopsis should be in the form of a technical approach that outlines processes needed to ensure that all aspects of a microphones systems engineering methodology are used in the execution of the program. As a minimum, (1) the new microphone will be compatible with existing MBU-20 series Aircrew Oxygen Masks; (2) compatible with current inventory tactical aircraft electrical systems and; (3) smaller than current microphone elements. It is requested that all interested parties submit a capability statement/documentation (under 25 pages) specifically addressing the technical approach to be taken to satisfy their statement of work tasking, potential teaming arrangements, related past performance, general corporate information, and their business size.
