- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to issue a cost reimburstment sole source award for the evaluation of the effects of AMIGAS, an HIV prevention intervention (adapted version of SISTA for Latinas) using a two-arm randomized controlled trial design with three-month post-intervention follow-up data. This award will be made pursuant to FAR 6.302(a)(2), ?when supplies or services are available from only one responsible source.? The CDC has identified the Miami?Dade County Health Department, a large government agency, located at 8600 Northwest 17th Street, Miami, FL 33126, as the sole source to provide the requirement. The period of performance of the contract is from September 15, 2007 through September 14, 2009. The Miami-Dade County Health Department has developed an adapted form of the SISTA intervention for Latina women. This adaptation is critical because it is developed from a scientifically based intervention (SISTA) for African American women. The AMIGAS intervention is essential to our requirement of ensuring consistency with the original research thereby precluding consideration of other adapted interventions for Latinas developed by other agencies/companies. Because the Miami-Dade County Health Department is the subject matter expert (SME) and the developer of this adapted intervention, it is the only organization suited to conduct this project. However, responsible sources who believe they can provide the required services may submit a written capability statement, via e-mail to Dyad Searcy at dsearcy@cdc.gov, no later than 15 days from the published date of this announcement, July 31, 2007.
