SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC Crane), is currently seeking potential sources for a Weapon Shot Counter (WSC) compatible with the Special Forces Combat Assault Rifle (SCAR) family of weapons. The WSC is a module or weapon component that will enable weapons maintenance personnel to easily determine the number of rounds fired through a weapon barrel, and possibly other conditional parameters such as firing cadence and barrel temperature that indicate remaining service life of critical components. The WSC will be provided with a Data Collection Device (DCD), which will be used to download WSC data. Unknown technology may preclude the need for a DCD and will be taken into consideration. To fulfill immediate need, NSWC Crane is seeking a WSC that is a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) item. With limited information being released about SCAR, it is understood that some configuration change to a COTS WSC may be required. Shock simulation data will be pro vided to assist in a configuration change. Limited resources will be supplied by NSWC Crane to make the COTS WSC compatible with the SCAR family of weapons. Favorable consideration will be given to technology that can detect change of barrel automatically or by simple user input. DCDs that require no software installation on a PC will also be given favorable consideration. Cost will be a consideration as well. All vendors with an appropriate product relating to the requirements set forth in this Sources Sought are invited to submit a Capability Statement and contact information. The Capability Statement should discuss the product?s capabilities against the potential requirements, the product?s system requirements, and any other specific and pertinent information that would enhance the understanding of the information submitted. Vendors should also supply projected pricing tables for the WSC and DCD.
