Description
Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC)-Iowa City, is soliciting and intends to award a firm fixed price contract for Architecture/Engineering services for "A/E to A/E to Replace Generators and Upgrade Power Distribution." NAICS Code 541310, size standard $4.5 million. Contractor shall furnish all labor and materials to provide A/E services as described in the Scope of Work, Qualifications and Services. The scope of work for this effort shall include but not be limited to the design services for three projects: (1) the replacement of a 34 year old 2 cycle diesel 2MW alternate source generator and its controls, (2) The replacement of secondary switchgear and associated transformers and feeders located in the subbasement of Building 1, and (3) the replacement and reconfiguration of three emergency generators and their control systems. The design will result in the coordination of electrical service, optimizing generator loading and power distribution to support critical patient care areas, and ensure chiller operation as well as meet current code. Existing architectural, electrical and mechanical components will require evaluation for replacement and/or size changes. One bid package will be prepared that provides clear separation of the work and cost of each of the three projects. A/E contract will include investigative services, design (with reviews), reproduction of bid documents, construction period services, final inspections and as-built drawings. Estimated construction cost range is $2.0 to $5.0 million. Estimated cost range for this solicitation is $250,000 to $500,000. consideration: Firms must be within 150 miles radius, of the VAMC-Iowa City.
