- Coeur d Alene River Ranger District, Kootenai County , Idaho. This is a Stewardship project authorized by Section 323 of Public Law 108-7, the Consolidated Appropriations Resolution, 2003 (16 U.S.C. 2104 Note) to perform end result land management Stewardship Contracts. The project area includes approximately 9960 acres in the Placer Creek drainage located in the South Fork of the Coeur d Alene River Basin. Restoration objectives for the project area are summarized as follows: (a) Hazardous Fuels Reduction Provide safe ingress and egress on road FR 456; (b) Fuels reduction across the drainage to reduce the potential for high severity and intensity wildfire in the municipal watershed; (c) Utilize Timber Resources Provide wood resource to forest product industry; (d) Improve forest components which trend to historic vegetation and habitat conditions (snags, down wood, cover, etc.). To accomplish these objectives, the contract includes the following components: timber removal, road work, fuels reduction, snag and down wood management, piling of fuels, and site preparation. Timber removal is specified on approximately 451 acres including an estimated volume of 10,000 CCF. The contract term will be 5 years from date of award. A Pre-solicitation meeting and site visit is scheduled for August 24, 2007.
