Description
The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) has been conducting leading-edge research into adapting modular plug-and-play technologies, such as USB and auto-discovery, for satellite systems. These technologies may be part of future TacSat or other Operationally Responsive Space (ORS) procurements. To expand industry awareness of these technologies, the AFRL Space Vehicles Directorate will host a How To Build A PnP Component Workshop to share the ideas and concepts associated with these technologies. The workshop will include an overview of the Plug-and-Play Satellite (PnPSat) program, the Space Plug-and-Play Avionics (SPA) standard, the Common Data Dictionary self-describing component data sheet, the SPA interface module hardware and software, the Test Bypass Interface that supports hardware in the loop testing, the mechanical and thermal design requirements, and space environmental requirements. The workshop will be held on Tuesday, 28 August 2007, from 0800 to 1700 at the Kirtland AFB Theater, Building 20225, at the corner of G Avenue and 1st Street. AFRL will also conduct a Critical Design Review (CDR) of the PnPSat Program on Wednesday and Thursday, 29-30 August 2007, from 0800 - 1700 in Building 201 at the north end of Project Drive on Kirtland AFB. U.S. government personnel and their contractors are invited to participate in one or both meetings. If space becomes limited, we may need to restrict the number of participants from a single company. Verification of U.S. citizenship is required. Please contact Debbie Spence, deborah.spence@kirtland.af.mil, to reserve a place at the workshop or to request additional information. RSVPs are requested by not later than 21 August 2007.
