Description

The Joint Project Manager for Biological Defense is seeking market research potential sources and best practice information for the System Development and Demonstration phase development of an integrated system for Increment 1 of the Joint Biological Tactical Detection System. JBTDS Increment 1 will be composed of two parts in an integrated training logistics and maintenance architecture. The first part will be an automated near-real time one man portable low-cost battery operable biological aerosol point detector and modular co-located aerosol sampler to provide enhanced biological force protection capabilities to the Joint Force. The second part will be a high-confidence hand-held manually operated battery operable presumptive identification capabi lity for pathogens and toxins to be used with the environmental sample collected by the JBTDS sampler part 1. The Government anticipates a draft request for proposal RFP to be released to industry within six months. The RFP will require the development of an integrated system concept for the JBTDS Increment 1 which encompasses a system integration effort for the JBTDS detector, sampler and identifier.
