- ***The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Pfeiffer Vacuum Inc., in Nashua, NH for the purchase of a Pfeiffer magnetic bearing turbo molecular drag pumping system to include a magnetic bearing pump, electronic controller and misc. controls and cables. *** ***The required equipment will be used to interchange with other existing identical Pfeiffer Vacuum pumping systems. This is a sole source requirement based on the fact the parts must be 100 percent compatible/interchangeable with the existing equipment. No other manufacturer has the proprietary technology necessary to ensure this 100% interchangeability. Pfeiffer Vacuum Inc. is the sole manufacturer and distributor of this equipment.*** ***Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, and is required within 45 days after receipt of order.*** ***The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 333911, and the size standard is 500 employees.*** ***No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, the Government will consider responses received by August 06, 2007.*** A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
