- Description
- This publication serves as notice of intent to negotiate a sole source simplified acquisition with the Space Science and Engineering Center at the University of Wisconsin to provide two Multi-Functional Transport Satellite (MTSAT) 10-bit High Resolution Information Transmission (HRIT) satellite data ingestor systems and support. The ingestors must provide data output in McIDAS format which is used at NOAA?s Weather Service offices (NWS) in Guam and Honolulu to convert and display locally ingested images on the Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS), the official NWS system used to support forecast and warning operations. MTSAT 8-bit High Resolution Imager Data will be discontinued in December 2007, replaced by new 10-bit High Resolution Information Transmission (HRIT) data. Therefore, these two new systems are necessary in order to ingest MTSAT data beyond December 2007. The Government believes that only the Space Science and Engineering Center at the University of Wisconsin has the capability to process the new MTSAT 10-bit HRIT data in McIDAS format. All responsible sources may submit a quotation, which shall be considered.
