- The Uniformed Services University plans on issuing a Sole Source contract to BD Biosciences Immun. Systems for a BD LSR II flow cytometer three laser system research flow cytometer cell analyzer, capable of detecting 8 fluorescent parameters with the following lasers 488nm(20mW), 633nm(18mW) and 405nm(50mW). The basis for the sole source decision follows: The instrument selected must be compatible with the current instrumentation in the Flow Cytometry Facility. The facility currently has a BD LSR II that fulfills many of the requirements of current research protocols. Instrument time is the greatest limiting factor. A second BD LSR II is requested because it will enable the BD High Throughput Sampler (HTS) to be used to acquire samples from 96 well plates. The second LSR II will afford greater flexibility without mandating additional training to operate a different instrument with new software. Additionally, the selected instrument must have the following lasers; 488nm(20mW), 633nm(18mW) and 405nm(50mW) to fulfill the requirements of current research protocols. It must have a minimum of 8 fluorescent detectors and have the flexibility for expansion to 18 fluorescent detectors. It must have spatially separated lasers, a fixed laser alignment, automated compensation, and offline compensation capability.
