Description
RINGFRAME Description: The Southern Regional Research Center Agricultural Research Service, U.S.D.A. is seeking bids for a Ring Spinning Machine as a means of providing yarn from short lengths of drawn sliver of carded cotton. Research Objectives: There is a need for a ringframe to produce yarn as part of the sequence of processes used to convert small quantities of cotton fiber into yarn, commonly described as the Microspinning process. Typically quantities of 50 to 100 grams of cotton are handled as part of the evaluation of fibers harvested from cotton plants under development for possible release as a cultivar. Technical Specifications Required: 1.) A means to accept feedstock in the form of a sliver wound on a drum. 2.) A multi roller drafting system with at least two drafting zones employing aprons, capable of handling a range of cotton staples. 3.) Provision of a means of adjusting draft over a typical range from 60 to 300 by either mechanical or electronic means. 4.) A suitable machine would be equipped with six to twelve spindles. All systems and components shall be provided with a 1-year warranty from the date of installation. The warranty shall cover all system parts against manufacturing defect or failure during normal service covering service labor and travel expenses.
