Description
The purpose of this modification is to respond to questions received. Another modification addressing additional questions is forthcoming. Q1. Does NIEHS plan to maintain the position of Managing Editor at NIEHS? A1.Yes Q2. Task 8.1, Copyediting and Proofreading. Is NIEHS considering managing these tasks in-house, with NIEHS staff? Unless notified otherwise, we will assume for the purpose of our proposal that copyediting and proofreading services are required for the journal and that these services will be managed by the contractor. A2. The provisions of the RFP are for supplementary copyediting and proofreading to support overflow from government staffs' current duties. Q3. Task 8.3, Special Issues. As stated in the PWS, direct printing costs for these issues have been paid by the issue organizer. Should we plan to include in our Business Proposal our staff costs for managing the production of these issues? A3. Yes Q4. What are NIEHS's plans regarding the Chinese edition? It is mentioned in the PWS that the EHP web site currently hosts this edition. Is it the expectation of the NIEHS that the contractor will continue to be responsible for hosting the electronic archive and, if the edition continues, the current content online as well? If the Chinese edition continues in print, would NIEHS continue to manage that (as well as translations, etc.) through their International Editor? A4. The plans regarding the Chinese edition are dependent on the future Editor-in-Chief. Yes, we do expect to continue the content translation as it currently stands for the Chinese edition including web hosting therefore the contractor will be responsible. Yes, if funding is obtained to continue to print the Chinese edition, NIEHS will manage that through their International Editor. Q5. Task 4.3 requires the contractor to provide reimbursement to freelance news writers. Please can you provide us with the current freelance writer budget, on a per-issue basis? A5. Assuming the News section is reinstated to its full monthly length, freelance writer budget for each issue will not exceed $20,000.
